Learning is getting to know new things that
a person hasn’t known before. People can gain knowledge by learning. There are
so many knowledge in the world that a person can learn. But obviously, people
wouldn’t learn them all at once, or even consider to learn due to their needs.
For example aspiring businessmen can learn business strategies, cooks can learn
recipes, and engineers can learn physics. But there are basic knowledge that a
person needs to learn which are often taught in school. 2 of them are math and
languages. In this essay we will discuss the similarities and differences of
learning math and languages as they are both knowledges but different to an
extent.
Learning math and languages has some
similarities. First, we need practice to master both of them. For math we need
to do calculations over and over again to understand the concepts. While when
we learn languages we need to make sentences and use the language in our daily
life to become better at it. Eventhough the way we practice is different, but
both need practice if we want to be good at them. Second, both has rules. In
math we have exact formulas, while in languages we have grammar rules. Math has
formulas to calculate area, volume, etc. But in languages, for example in
English, we have tenses, essay structure, etc.
Learning math and languages also has a
difference, They have different focuses. Math is focused on numbers, while
languages is focused on words and sentences. That’s why we count numbers and
solve mathematical equations in math. Unlike when we learn language, in which we
are focused on joining words and make them into sentence and eventually essays.
In conclusion, learning languages and math
has similarities and difference, Both need practice if you want to be good at
them, and both also has rules. While their focus may be the thing that make
them different, as math concerns about numbers, while language concerns abput
words and sentences.
